Mar Ripoll is a visual artist from Mallorca based in Berlin. Painting is at the core of her practice. Her work has evolved from figuration towards abstraction through a continuous investigation of structure, material memory and perception.

Her process can be understood as a form of pictorial archaeology. She builds paintings through layering, covering, scraping, removing and revealing, allowing previous states to remain embedded in the surface as traces. Rather than erasing what came before, each new intervention exposes, conceals or transforms what is already there.

In her recent work, structure has become increasingly central. Rather than being imposed in advance, it emerges through the process itself, from the accumulation and excavation of layers, the tension between matte and glossy surfaces, and the active role of empty space.
