Mar Ripoll is a visual artist based in Berlin. Her practice focuses on gestural painting with acrylic on resin, exploring the relationships between perception, emotion, and the body through the accumulation of layers. Her compositions, rich in materiality, invite a visual and tactile experience where the intimate and the external merge on the same plane.
Initially trained at Casal Balaguer in Palma, Ripoll holds a BA degree from the University of the Balearic Islands (2001) and completed advanced studies in artistic photography and design at CEF and the School of Art and Design in Palma. She has furthered her education at institutions such as Escola Massana (Barcelona), the Pilar and Joan Miró Foundation, and Es Baluard.
After living in London and Barcelona, the pandemic marked a turning point in her career, prompting her to leave Mallorca and establish herself in Berlin to expand her international network. In recent years, she has participated in artist residencies such as Pilotenkueche (Leipzig, 2022) and GlogauAir (Berlin, 2023), helping to consolidate her presence in the German art scene.
Her work has been recognized with the First Prize at the XXXI International Art Contest Son Carrió (2019) and she has been a finalist in competitions such as the International Visual Arts Prize Vila de Santanyí (2017) and the International Art Contest Sant Marçal (2019). She has held solo exhibitions in venues such as Auditorium Sa Màniga (2021), the Cultural Center S’Escorxador in Marratxí (2020), and Can Gelabert (2013), in addition to participating in numerous group shows in both Spain and Germany, including her most recent involvement in The Shape It Takes (Galerie Grolman, Berlin, 2025).
She is currently developing the project Touching Dimensions, in which she deepens her exploration of the material language of painting as an expanded perceptual experience.
